Today, we are announcing that we are sunsetting Johi Payments, our blockchain-based payment infrastructure for the art market, effective immediately.

This was not an easy decision. Over the past year, we've had the privilege of working with hundreds of galleries, artists, and art advisors—from our first demonstration at Art Dubai Digital in April 2025 to building real relationships across the global art community.

To everyone who trusted us with their transactions and their time: thank you.

Why We're Sunsetting Johi Payments

Blockchain retail applications have structural limitations. After extensive testing and learning—particularly around KYC/AML regulations in the art market—we've concluded that blockchain-based consumer payment tools face barriers that constrain growth and scalability.

We are transitioning our payment infrastructure to Stripe, which allows us to better serve the art world's compliance requirements.

This decision also means we've had to let go of team members focused on blockchain development. They are talented individuals, and we're grateful for their contributions to Johi's foundation.

What This Means for You

• Service Access: The Johi Payments app is no longer active as of December 1, 2025.
• Data: All personal data has been securely archived or deleted in accordance with our privacy policy.

What's Next for Johi

Johi—the Joy of Human Interactions—continues. We are redirecting our focus entirely toward AI-powered solutions for artists and galleries. More details on this next chapter will follow.
